PENDAHULUAN Pembangunan bidang pertambangan berwawasan lingkungan adalah kebutuhan penting bagi setiap bangsa dan negara yang mempunyai kekayaan bahan ekonomis pada tanah dan airnya. Perlindungan lingkungan diperlukan agar sumberdaya alam bisa diproduksi dengan memperhatikan kelangsungan hidup manusia kini, maupun untuk generasi yang akan datang. Masalah utama yang timbul pada wilayah aktivitas tambang adalah perubahan lingkungan. Perubahan kimiawi terutama berdampak terhadap air tanah dan air permukaan, berlanjut secara fisik perubahan morfologi dan topografi lahan. Lebih jauh lagi adalah perubahan iklim mikro yang disebabkan perubahan kecepatan angin, gangguan habitat biologi berupa flora dan fauna, serta penurunan produktivitas tanah karena menjadi tandus atau gundul. New Paradigm for Mine Closure Planning

Mine closure has become the world issue. It is proven by many international conference such as “Mine Closure 2010 (MC10)” held on November 23rd-26th 2010 in Vina del Mar, Chile, a country which lately became the world’s interest because of its succeed in rescueing 33 miners who trapped inside underground mine. This mine closure conference was the fifth conference held by The Australian Centre for Geomechanics and the Centre for Land Rehabilitation at the University of Western Australia and they plan to hold it in 2011 in Alberta, Canada. It was noted that there are 64 papers from 18 countries presented in the conference. ANALISIS PENGARUH DISKONTINUITAS TERHADAP KESTABILAN LERENG TAMBANG

Abstract Slope stability of mining is one of the factors that influence mineable reserve calculating and stripping ratio. This means that these factors will be significant in further economic evaluation. One factor that significantly influence slope stability of mining in wich the slope is excavated is discontinuity. The discontinuity refers to naturally occurring breaks in the rocks such as tectonic joints, faults, lithological boundaries, sheeting joints, bedding planes and bedding plane joints, cooling joints and metamorphic fabrics. The properties of discontinuity relative to stability include orientation, roughness, waviness, spacing, aperture, persistences, infilling and seepage. There are four general modes of slope failure caused discontinuity: plane failure, wedge failure, toppling failure and circular failure.
